RESEARCH AND CONFERENCES

Preparing for Assault: Framing the Psychological Impact of “The Talk” Within Black Childhood (2024). This work highlights the psychological impact "the police talk" has on Black children and what, if any, intergenerational trauma is included in the transmitting of and in historical framings. Qualitative, quantitative and ethnographic methodology will be utilized to promote the findings.
The Effects on African American Men Whose Father Died in Childhood (2019). As lead researcher on this project, I used qualitative and ethnographic research methodology to understand how young Black males psychologically transition into adulthood after the loss of their fathers in adolescents, and what interventions needed to be considered to counter this adverse experience.
Children Engaged in Grief Therapy (2018). As lead researcher on this project, I utilized qualitative and ethnographic methodology to determine how children, engaged in grief therapy, maneuver their surroundings and interact with their peers after the loss of a parent due to homicide.
From Behind Bars: Psychotherapeutic Transition Group for Recidivists (2010). This thesis consisted of an 8-week, evidence-based therapeutic model that focuses on re-engaging recidivist back into their families and communities.
